This week, I attended the Online Learning Consortium’s Blended Learning Conference and Workshop in Denver, Colorado. I presented with a wonderful group of forward-thinking educators including Karen Swan, Hae Okimoto, and Casey Sacks on “Using Analytics to Inform Tactical Decisions”.
The opportunity to present arose from UMUC’s collaborative work in the Predictive Analytics Research Framework. We discussed the value of creating inter-institutional data definitions and models that allow for comparison amongst benchmark colleagues. The PAR collaboration also provides a unique opportunity to learn from others about student success interventions. For UMUC, this is only a portion of our work in analytics. UMUC is committed to work with Civitas Learning driven by our Office of Analytics. The Center for Innovation in Learning and Student Success applies the data and information to inform actions and interventions through both current student success initiatives and a cross-functional team for interventions.
